Welcome!!
New Young Scholars (NYS) is a nonprofit organization founded in 2014 by Dr. Campbell and former students Ir. Marcellin Kibonge and Ir. Gaëtan Nzowo. Originally based in Oregon, we are now headquartered in Washington. NYS embodies the Ubuntu spirit by empowering Black and African scholars and leaders while fostering a network that connects local, regional, and global communities. We prioritize collaboration, knowledge exchange, and community service, focusing on research in social sciences and technology to address contemporary challenges. Our mission is to create a supportive and inclusive environment that uplifts Black and African youth. Join us in empowering the next generation of leaders and scholars.
New Young Scholars is dedicated to empowering migrants, refugees, homeless youth, and families in our communities through accessible programs and services. Our mission is to promote education, engage youth, enhance health and wellness, foster economic empowerment, provide mentorship, facilitate healing circles, and implement effective conflict resolution strategies.
We strive to create safe and supportive environments where individuals can thrive, regardless of their backgrounds. By collaborating with local stakeholders, we aim to build strong relationships and mobilize resources that contribute to sustainable community development.
In fulfilling our mission, we equip young people with essential skills for success and inspire them to become active citizens and leaders of positive change. We embrace the philosophy that “I am because we are,” recognizing the vital role of community in shaping a brighter, more inclusive future for all.
